    Mondadori Live Bookstore

    Retail design competition

Mondadori Live is a new retail format, a place for culture, that transforms a traditional bookshop into a meeting and event space. The publishing world is rapidly changing. Printed books and magazines have been joined by new digital formats that suggest a new concept of retail spaces, not just product containers, but places that promote “cultural contents” to entertain and involve readers.
The central area of the shop can be transformed with a few simple moves in event space and host live activities: presentations, meetings with authors, readings and conferences. Book displays are mounted on wheels to move, to aggregate and to reconfigure them in different layouts as needed.
The architecture of the ceiling suggests the perception of space by zones, without however interfering with the infinite possible layouts of the book displays. The different heights of the ceiling design intangible rooms (entrance, cash desk, newspapers and magazines, events) and guide people in the shop.
