Independent practice that works
with spaces and artifacts, ideas and significance.
Our activity covers interiors, architecture, research and design consulting.
The house lies on a gentle slope of the Lecco hills, in a beautiful
panoramic position where you can admire the Alps.
The structure was built twenty years before the intervention but it had
never been finished, a condition that made possible a general redesign of all interiors
and even minor changes to the façade openings.
The main space has been divided by a transparent and fully opening glass
wall that separates the living from the kitchen and dining. Even when closed,
the wall preserves the sense of spatial continuity.
Finishes and colors were chosen so to balance and match with the existing
roof beams, in particular the natural split slate floor. The floring intense
colors range from green to rust, with a predominance of red. The strong
personality of the floor and ceiling suggested to hold a more neutral tone -
gray ash - for the walls and custom furnishings.
All fixtures are unified by polished
gray oak and the fireplace is clad in gray basalt stone, the same color of the
furniture. Finishes have been chosen to emphasize the natural look of the
materials and to mix shiny surfaces and rough textures.
The lower floor area has been designed as a wellness and relaxation
area. The space is large and even bright to be at a basement level. So, it was
designed with the same care of the dwelling areas, also to favor a comfortable stay.
Numerous uses have been organized by furniture and platforms so as not to
segment the space into a myriad of small areas and offer the perception of a
unique large room.
